So here’s a puzzle for the occasion, as the polls close, and this candidate leads by that margin while we await those precincts, and the television personalities holler in front of their multi-colored maps, and the pundits speculate and explain, and the portentous election-day music plays, and the garish election-day graphics swirl, until the wise voter unplugs everything and retires to bed with a Victorian novel, content to read the results in tomorrow’s paper.
